It seems the time has come and the jig is up. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA) has been toying with fall arrest systems for the fire service for years and the idea may just land this year. We all understand the dangers of taking the roof. As a career field, we have our own engineering controls to help us maximize our safety during an emergency but has it ever really been enough? The topic is likely to strike massive debate within the fire service and some serious pushback from the floor. Will truck companies now also be required to have a fall arrest tower for the ventilation crew to clip into?
